Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE® Net)

Collaboration [Return to listing page]

The Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE® Net) brings researchers and informal science educators together to inform the public about nanoscience and technology.

As nanotechnology develops, there is an increasingly urgent need for a science-literate public, a technologically adept workforce, and a flow of bright, young, ethically minded, and well-trained researchers into our laboratories.

NISE Net seeks to foster public awareness, engagement, and understanding of nanoscale science, engineering, and technology through a national infrastructure that links science museums and other informal science education organizations with nanoscale science and engineering organizations.

The network aims to create a set of interactive, media-based, and discourse-based educational products that effectively communicate and engage the public with nanoscale science and engineering. It will also generate essential new knowledge about design for learning in these subject areas. Finally, it will produce a sustainable network of relationships, alliances, and professional development for both educational institutions and nanoscale research institutions, enhancing their educational capacity and serving the entire ISE community.
